Our social media manager just updated her WhatsApp to version 2.21.13.28.
After the update, she realised she wasn’t getting notifications on her home screen any longer for archived chats.
Depending on how you administer your WhatsApp messages, this can be a handy feature, but if you’d prefer to switch on notifications for archived messages, follow the step below:

1. Go to your home screen and click on the three dots at the top right hand corner and select: Settings > Help > App Info |

2. Click the 3 dots top right and click on Archive settings. 3. Toggle the Keep chats archived to the left. It will change to grey.
